Friday, November 19, 2004 get you!

i just got back from a long, exhausting, and expensive trip. it was a really small tour that was set up since we were going to chicago to see the pixies.
the mariannes and the stay awake mini-tour. we drove up to st. paul on friday and got there all right. they played at this space, which apparently is a bike shop/venue. it was pretty awesome. both bands were great and the last band the stunning was amazing. we were all jumping around and dancing and my buddy justin pushed me and i fell on the stage right on this cinder block. i hit it with my ribs, and i lost my breath. it felt as if i broke them, because of the excruciating pain and i couldn't breath without it hurting. it put me in a pretty bad mood that evening as i drank myself to sleep to ease the pain.

next morning we headed to chicago. it still hurt a whole hell of a lot, and i couldn't cough or laugh, but i could breath without pain. driving through wisconsin (which we found later that they are not huge fans of speeders) i got a call from steve saying that matt just got pulled over for driving 83 in a 65 and got cited a $250 ticket. since he's from out of state, he had to pay it on the spot. later, just past madison, matt's car just turned off. it took a while, but his insurance company got a tow truck for him and took his car to a dealership in love's town.

we found a bar and tried to figure out how we were going to get to chicago. after a while of getting maps to rail stations and bus stations and robert talking to jackie and ringo, ringo found a car and made the hour and a half trip out to pick us up to head to chicago.

we got there in plenty of time to still play the show. we went to rodan after to drink and i passed out at high school, the venue for the evening.

next day we all went out for breakfast and then justin, robert, steve, and mario all headed back to omaha. we all went to jeff's place, since ellen bought a plane ticket back to omaha. matt had to stay up to find out about his car, and i was staying in town till the pixies show.

next day, matt called the dealership and found out that his car needs a new engine, so he bought a ticket back to omaha. i met up with rob and we all went out drinking.

the pixies' show was awesome, and maybe i'll write more about it later.

all i can say is that chicago is one of the funnest towns to bike in.

Thursday, November 04, 2004 get you!

so, i'm going to be trying to go to hawai'l this april. next weekend we're going to minneapolis for my buddies' show, and then we're hanging out there and heading to chicago for the pixies. oh, and in case you didn't know, their albums are being re-released on 180 gram vinyl for cheap. i picked up come on pilgrim. and i'm sure you know, but all the matador stuff are re-releasing. meaning superchunk and guided by voices

so i've played two shows recently. one on halloween and one a few weeks ago,. i played with this guy preacher boy. apparently (i haven't checked yet), on his website, under the gigs section, there's a pic of the show, and i'm passed out in it. i was told that he said, "i want to take a pic," and i, while being passed out said, "it'll last longer."

so, i'm outs, i'll talk more later.
love,
breht

kai and brian, talk to me.....
